While interning at Wilks, I had the opportunity to work with a system of colleges, a non-profit bakery supporting veterans, and NGOs focused on clean water, microfinance, and childhood poverty.
Developing media lists and fostering reporter relationships were my main tasks on the non-profit side. Additionally, I created and distributed daily news reports covering client placements, and bi-weekly social media reports. Writing these reports granted me a deeper insight into the clients and into their industries.
Thanks to the non-profit clients, I am well versed in research for new avenues for earned media. Developing insight documents into up-and-coming podcasts, speaking opportunities, and print media has taught me to always be on the look out for what's new.
After working with and getting to know the clients extensively, I have been able to develop media briefs that assist in preparation for interviews. Presidents and C-levels are incredibly busy, providing a framework for them to respond to questions and remain in line with key messages ensures a smooth experience for everybody.
